The art of envisioning is all in the imagination. At art club we practise envisioning by playing and planning. We encourage envisioning by giving children time to play and plan. We give them uninterrupted imagination time. Time to stare into space, look for inspiration and just be in the moment. They are envisioning. Imagining what they could make, what it looks like, thinking of the future possibilities. They take their time looking at the different tools on the table. Some dive straight in and try things, others are more cautious.
This step of making art is crucial in order for children to be able to think, plan and create something from start to finish. Once they have thier idea they then need time to test it out and also time to test out the materials. Sometimes things work exactly as they imagine but other times they might need to adjust their idea or adapt it. These are life skills that they can take with them and we love that we can provide this in our class.
What other skills so we encourage at art play club?
Problem-solving skills
Thinking outside the box
Researching - using books and pictures to generate new ideas
Finding innovative solutions to problems
And that's not all, but it's all for now!
